M Squared, the contractor working for the SFPUC completed work on the installation of a new water pipeline (existing pipeline ranges in age from 1870 to 1904) to improve water service in your neighborhood. The project installed new water main pipes on 21st from Shotwell to Potrero: Bryant Street from 21st to 25th, and parts of Cumberland, Ford & Hancock Streets. Currently the contractor is installing new ADA curb ramps with paving to follow.
Equipment and materials will be temporarily located in your neighborhood during construction (mostly on side streets). After installation of the new water pipeline, crews will transfer water services, install fire hydrants and make final connections. Once construction is completed, material and equipment will be removed within 1 to 2 weeks.
Parking will be restricted during construction hours. We apologize for this inconvenience and assure you parking will be restored as soon as possible. Please see posted barricade signs for exact work days, hours, locations, as they may vary depending on construction task.
The asphalt paving applied daily is temporary and designed to provide a safe road surface during construction. Final paving will occur after pipeline work is completed. It may take up to 30 days or longer before final paving is complete.
Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will provide traffic control, but residents may experience delays up to ten minutes when entering and leaving the work area. If you have special needs, please call us and we will make every effort to accommodate you.
Connection of services
Crews will disinfect and clean new water main pipes. You will be notified with a door hanger, regarding any planned water service interruption to your property. This is usually done after all pipeline work is completed.
Final construction activities
Crews will perform final paving after pipeline work is completed. Once completed crews will remove equipment, cleanup site and perform final inspection of site.
