Panhandle and Inner Sunset Large Sewer Rehabilitation Project
Overview
As part of the Sewer System Improvement Program investments, the Panhandle and Inner Sunset Large Sewer Rehabilitation Project will rehabilitate the existing 100+ year old sewer mains located under several streets located along the Panhandle and Inner Sunset.

Project Background
Wherever possible and to minimize impacts to the roadway and adjacent residences and businesses, most of the sewer mains will be rehabilitated with a trenchless method called Cured-in-Placed Pipe (CIPP) sfpuc.org/curedpipe. Where CIPP cannot be performed, the sewer mains will be replaced or rehabilitated with open-excavation. Construction will include improvements to sewer lower laterals within the project area, which may also require open-excavation. When completed, this project will increase the reliability of our City’s critical sewer system infrastructure.

What to Expect During Construction
NOISE: Noise, vibration, and dust in the work zone
SEWER SERVICE These services will NOT be interrupted during construction.
PARKING: Street parking will be impacted near construction zones. “No-parking” signs will be posted 72 hours in advance.
TRAFFIC: Partial and/or full lane closures may be necessary to ensure safety of workers and the public. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided, as needed.
MUNI: Passenger loading zone for bus stops may be temporary relocated. Advance notice and detour signage will be provided as needed.
ACCESS: Follow posted signage on site. Driveway access to businesses and residents in the work zone will be maintained during construction.
NOISE: Neighbors may hear construction noise periodically. Noisy work will be conducted in compliance with the San Francisco Noise Ordinance.

NOTICE: A 30-day and 10-day notice will be distributed prior to construction to residents and businesses within the project area before construction begins.
