Installation of new 16-inch and 8-inch Ductile Iron Water Main Pipelines on Geary Boulevard from 32nd Avenue to 48th Avenue. Sewer Line Replacement will be included on three blocks with one lateral at 42nd Avenue
M Squared Construction, the contractor working for the SFPUC, is installing new 16-inch and 8-inch Ductile Iron Water Main Pipelines on Geary Boulevard from 32nd Avenue to 48th Avenue. Sewer Line Replacement will be included on three blocks with one lateral at 42nd Avenue. Pavement Restoration will complete the project.
What to expect during construction
Equipment and materials will be temporarily located in the neighborhood during construction. After installation of the new water pipeline, crews will transfer water services, install fire hydrants and make final connections. Once construction is completed, material and equipment will be removed within 1 to 2 weeks.
Parking will be restricted during construction hours. We apologize for this inconvenience and assure you parking will be restored as soon as possible. Please see posted barricade signs for exact work days, hours, locations, as they may vary depending on construction task.
The asphalt paving applied daily is temporary and designed to provide a safe road surface during construction. Final paving will occur after pipeline work is completed. It may take up to 30 days or longer before final paving is complete.
Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will provide traffic control, but residents may experience delays up to ten minutes when entering and leaving the work area. If you have special needs, please call us and we will make every effort to accommodate you.
Connection of services
Crews will disinfect and clean new water main pipes. You will be notified with a door hanger, regarding any planned water service interruption to your property. This is usually done after all pipeline work is completed.
Final construction activities
Crews will perform final paving after pipeline work is completed. Once completed crews will remove equipment, cleanup site and perform final inspection of site.

Construction Update as of Friday, November 20, 2020
Geary Boulevard Repaving Schedule Revised Due to Holiday Moratoriums Elsewhere in City
After November 20, 2020, we will have completed the grinding and paving of: Geary Blvd. (42nd – 37th Avenue) and Geary Blvd. (34th – 32nd Avenue). The remaining paving along Geary Blvd. (34th – 37th Avenue) is not yet scheduled because our subcontractor will be busy finishing other projects that need to be done before the City's holiday moratorium begins. We are hopeful that the grinding and paving of Geary Blvd. (34th – 37th Avenue) should be done before the end of the year. We will post the new dates when known. We continue to thank you for your patience.
